What Are Clear Labels and How Are They Different from Stickers?

Are Clear Labels Waterproof? 

Yes! Our Clear Labels are waterproof, oil-resistant, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. They hold up well in cold, wet environments, including freezers.

Can I Use Clear Labels on Glass Bottles? 

Absolutely! Clear Labels create a seamless, professional appearance on glass containers and are perfect for beverage bottles, jars, and candle packaging.

Do Clear Labels Show Air Bubbles on Glass? 

They can, but proper application on a clean, smooth surface minimizes bubbles. Applying labels slowly and using a squeegee can help remove air pockets.

Are Clear Labels Suitable for Outdoor Use?

Yes! Clear Labels are weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor use.

What File Types Should I Use for My Clear Label Artwork?

• Resolution: 300 dpi or higher
• Color Mode: CMYK for accurate color printing
• File Formats: AI, PSD, JPEG, PNG, SVG, TIFF, PDF, or EPS
• Preferred Art Types: Vector or high-resolution raster files
• White Ink for QR Codes: Add a white background behind QR codes to ensure scannability.

What Are the Minimum and Maximum Sizes for Clear Labels?

• Smallest size: 0.5" x 0.5"

Can Clear Labels Be Used for Full-Wrap Applications? 

Yes! For full-wrap applications (e.g., bottles or jars), add 1/4" overlap to your design for secure adhesion.

Do Clear Labels Have Rounded Corners?

Yes! Laser cutting produces rounded corners for better adhesion and prevents peeling. Our standard radius is 1/8" (0.125"), and tighter corners (1/25", 0.04") are available upon request in the Additional Comments section during checkout.

Can I Use Clear Labels With Label Applicators? 

Yes! Clear labels come on rolls compatible with label applicators. We offer four rewind positions (top first, bottom first, right-side first, or left-side first). Select your rewind direction based on your applicator’s specifications.

How Do I Order Custom Clear Labels from StickerGiant? 

Ordering custom Clear Labels from StickerGiant is simple:

1. Customize: Select your finish (glossy or matte), shape, size, and quantity.
2. Upload: Submit your design (AI, EPS, PDF, PNG, PSD, SVG, TIF, TIFF, JPEG, JPG) or upload it later.
3. Add Instructions: Leave special requests in the "Special Instructions" section.

Make sure your files are set up for success!

For the best possible product, we recommend the following for your art files:

• 300 dpi resolution or higher for printing
• Ensure your file’s color space is set to CMYK (otherwise colors may appear off)
• Upload any of these file formats: AI, PSD, JPEG, PNG, SVG, TIFF, PDF, or EPS
• Vector or high-resolution raster art files are preferred for best results
• There are some size limitations with our labels – our smallest size is 0.5”x0.5” and our largest size is 11”x14”
• We require a ⅛” safety margin surrounding your entire label, so keep that in mind when setting up your design.
• If you are looking to wrap your labels all the way around something (like a small tube or curved jar, etc) we recommend making the size about ¼” larger so that you can overlap the label
• There may be specific requirements in your industry for labels! Please make sure you check those to ensure your labels are set up accordingly and include all necessary information.
• When applying to a dark surface, please be aware that some lighter colors printed on the clear material may not be completely opaque.
• If you are printing a QR code in your artwork, we recommend a white background to ensure that it scans correctly.

Cutting Corners (Literally—We never cut corners figuratively):

• Laser cutting also means rounded corners, which has the added benefit of preventing peeling once your labels are applied. Depending on your designs, we are able to cut tighter corners in many cases.
• To cut tight corners for your Matte Labels, let us know in the Additional Comments box in your cart.
• Our design team will let you know if we can cut tight corners with your designs.
• Our typical corner radius is 1/8" (0.125"). Our tight corner radius will be 1/25" (0.04").

Clear Labels are water and oil-resistant and are dishwasher and microwave-safe. 

For best results:

• Apply labels to clean, flat surfaces.
• For indoor use only
• Go ahead and stick it!

Just Don’t:

• Clear labels are not outdoor durable. But our Clear Sticker options are!
• Labels cannot be perforated. If you need your rolls to have perforations between the labels, you will need to order our sticker product.
• You are not able to print on these labels (like running them through an inkjet printer)
• Don’t do anything your mom wouldn’t appreciate, but that’s just generally good advice.

Product labels often have specific size requirements, and incorrectly sized labels may actually send out the wrong message for your brand.

Here are a few size comparisons to things we see all the time.

A quarter is about an inch in diameter, and this size works great for supporting branding labels, or small easy to hand out stickers. 

An Oreo cookie is about 2 inches in diameter for a size that allows for an easy to see logo or visible designs, in a size that will still be easily seen if applied to the back of a phone or laptop.

Standard business cards are usually 2x3 inches, and ovals and rectangles in this size are popular options for custom stickers. This size is easy to share with your fans at events to get your logo out in the world.
