WordCamps are attended by people ranging from blogging newbies to professional WordPress developers and consultants, and usually combine scheduled programming with unconference sessions and other activities. The first WordCamp was organized in San Francisco by Matt Mullenweg in 2006. Since then, local communities around the world have organized over a hundred WordCamps.
WordCamps come in all different flavors, based on the local communities that produce them, but in general, WordCamps include sessions on how to use WordPress more effectively, beginning plugin and theme development, advanced techniques, security, etc.
WordCamp is everywhere, like Savoir Faire. If you missed one, another will come around soon. Chicago, New York, Detroit ... they might all be on the same street ... but to get Portland and Albuquerque? You’re gunna have to get truckin’. Alas, the Albuquerque event just took place on August 24-26th, but Portland is due on September 17-18th.
