Watch for Rocks
Custom-Yellow-and-Black-Stickers-Watch-for-Rocks-Stickers-Printed-by-StickerGiant Rockslides are no laughing matter. They can be caused by a range of factors, from natural events like extreme weather, volcanic eruption and earthquakes, through man made events like excavation and blasting. In many areas, it's simply a case of normal erosion. Today's Trivia Tuesday question is ... Q: What was the largest landslide in recorded history? . . . . . . . A: The largest landslide event in recorded history was the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, in Washington State. 57 people died as a result of the event. The landslide was triggered by a magnitude 5.1 earthquake which was centered directly below Mount St. Helens north slope. The slide was so massive that it uncorked the volcano, which allowed the eruption to occur.
