The good folks at Tree People seek to "green Los Angeles by establishing a Functioning Community Forest in every neighborhood of the city."
TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit that unites the power of trees, people and technology to grow a sustainable future for Los Angeles. Simply put, our work is about helping nature heal our cities. Why? Because more trees means cooler temperatures, cleaner air, replenished groundwater supplies and a safer, more beautiful city.
Which sounds awesome. Also much less scary that the first thing that popped to mind when we heard "tree people"—that creepy scene from the Wizard of Oz in which the trees threw their own apples at Dorothy. Talk about your terrifying meta psychological something.
