Watchoo lookin' at there, Fish? You looking for trouble? Turns out old Gilly McGoogleEye is the unofficial mascot of the Palometa Club, way down in Mexico. Um, have you seen their website? What a beautiful place! Sign us up! We'll even share a bunk with the fish!
The Palometa Club is an exclusive fly fishing lodge on the northeastern edge of the famed permit and bonefish flats of Ascension Bay in Yucatan, Mexico. Entering its seventh season of operation, the Club has also quickly become one of the most respected fly fishing lodges in the Caribbean for serious flats anglers. We operate out of a comfortable six-bedroom lodge located on the picturesque ocean-side beach of the unique lobster fishing village of Punta Allen, Mexico. Anglers can book fully-inclusive, week-long fishing packages (which include transportation from Cancun) in their quest for permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook and more. Non-anglers can enjoy snorkeling, guided eco tours and archeological trips as the Palometa Club is situated within the famed Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a 1.3 million acre World Heritage Site known for its rich marine environment, exotic birds and tropical wildlife, and vast array of Mayan ruins.Does anything sound better at the end of February than a warm-weather getaway? We've run out of hot chocolate, the streets are full of snow, and the St. Bernard has stopped delivering. Will winter never end? Sigh. All we want is a little sun, sand, surf, and the chance to hang with SpongeBob under a palapa. Not to mention all the ceviche we can eat. Sorry, fish, but facts is facts....and the truth is: you look marvelous.
