This year, the startup community here in Longmont is holding the third edition of Longmont Startup Week, a collaborative annual gathering for entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, investors and talent that invigorates and nurtures the local entrepreneurial ecosystem by leveraging innovative human and social capital, and infrastructure. We're proud to support our local Techstars Startup Week here in Longmont with custom matte event stickers, of course, but also with the StickerGiant story of how we've grown our business from a startup to an international brand.
Their sticker sheet has many unique peel offs with robots, batteries and tacos to name a few. There is a also a custom circle sticker that will be a great addition to any laptop or tablet for an event-goer. Big thanks to Alan Peters from Jupiter Visual for the design work.
The theme for Longmont Startup Week 2018 is “Smarter. Together.” Events and content throughout the week will focus on creators, commerce, capital, and community and will highlight Longmont as an entrepreneurial ecosystem for civic innovation. All events are free to attend and provide outstanding learning and networking opportunities. One very special element of this edition of Longmont Startup Week is that it's a bilingual event, and all sessions and content is in English and Spanish. This serves the largest possible audience in Longmont, and this addition makes for a truly community oriented event.
For sessions on Wednesday morning, July 25th, we have a double billing of StickerGiant public speaking talent. Our founder John Fischer will be serving on the Mentor Talks at 9am at CoSolve (350 Terry Street Suite 200) where he will be talking about our Journey to $15 Million & Beyond (How Incremental Improvement Made StickerGiant). Our marketing director Jesse Michaels is on a panel speaking at 9am at La Vita Bella Cafe @ The Experience (473 Main Street) about Strategies for Growing Your Business: A Social Media and Marketing Conversation. We are all about gaining and sharing knowledge at StickerGiant (it's one of our 12 Laws of Business), and our supporting of Techstars Startup events is a big part of our community outreach. We look forward to seeing anyone in the Front Range who wants to talk about Open Book Management and how we run our business.
We are also supporting the Design Battle hosted by LiminaUX, a local technology company. Naturally we're the sticker sponsor for the event, with a 500 custom sticker order going to the champion, and our very own graphic designer Alan Peters will be participating in this unique event where local creatives put their talents on display in a live competition.
The Design Battle is an evening event with up to 6 participating designers, a judge panel of creative directors for local design firms, an MC to give out the challenges and keep the event moving, a DJ during the design sessions, and either beer on tap or a limited bar. The battle will consist of a series of design challenges of increasing time and difficulty. Each round will yield a winner and a loser. Losers will be eliminated each round until one designer is left standing. Prizes for the winner include a 13" HD Wacom Tablet, 500 Stickers of one design by Sticker Giant, and 1 Month free business membership at CoSolve. This event will be the first of many Design Battle showcases for Front Range Designers' show off their skills to the community. Learn more at http://www.designbattle.coWe also welcomed Sergio Angeles of the Longmont Observer, a local community media startup, to talk about the state of journalism in today’s business climate and what’s ahead for Longmont Startup Week. His interview on our Sticker Stories podcast is up on our website for a listen, if you're interested.
