Modern art can take a lot of different meanings and forms. Here at StickerGiant, we appreciate art and design. In honor of the great work we see turned into stickers on a daily basis, we are creating a new series called Artist of the Month. We'll profile great stickers from inspiring creatives.
To kick off in February, let’s talk about the street artist known simply as, hanksy, also known by his alter ego of Tom Hanksy. He is creating art out of everything! His stylistic approach to street art is not accepted by all in the art world. However, with a strong internet following that supports his pun-filled mash-ups of pop culture, he has made quite the name for himself.
Street art is art on display in broad daylight. An important differentiation to make between street art and graffiti is having the permission to do so. Hanksy's canvases range from murals on buildings to setting up staged art out of random objects on the street, like the image above.
Can you put just one label on hansky? Not at all. He recently launched a web series, Surplus Candy, with the sponsorship of The Hundreds and Squarespace. Hanksy travels to different cities in each episode, highlights street art and the influence on the art from each cities various cultures.
Hanksy is more than just street. Case in point, he runs an online store that sells prints of his artwork, and he keeps a variety of stickers on hand to show off his creativity.
Start your own artist showcase and order some stickers of your artwork.
