Startup Weekend Oxford, Cluny & Mexico City 2017
We have three Techstars startup events in progress for the weekend ahead, with a returning favorite and a few new installments to highlight. All events take place in other countries, with Mexico, France and England on deck for a weekend of business, building and networking. Die cut stickers were the order of the weekend, and we'll discuss all of the custom shapes and designs below. Let's start in Mexico City, where we are revisiting after three other events last year. For this edition of Startup Weekend CDMX 2017 they have a deep black sticker sheet that has five peel offs, with four circles featuring the city's iconic Angel of Independence statue known locally as El Ángel and a small rectangle for the event branding. Our favorite from last year's Mexico City Startup events was the Startup Weekend Kids version. It goes to show that you can build a community with hard work and innovative ideas, and they are working hard in Mexico's capital to create opportunities for entrepreneurship. Check out their Twitter account @SWMexicoCity to follow the action live, and if you're in town head over to venue sponsor WeWork to join the event. Heading to Startup Weekend Oxford, England, we have a first-ever gathering at one of the oldest universities in the world (Oxford--think the Harvard of the UK). Their custom shaped sticker with scalloped sides call attention to the spire-filled skyline of the town, with the historic Christ Church Cathedral and Tom Tower on each side of the sticker. Big thanks to The Oxford Launchpad at the Said Business School at the University of Oxford for holding court during the weekend. If you're inclined to check in, follow Startup Oxford on their Twitter account @OxfordSW. Finally, we finish in Cluny, France for another first time event, with teams gathering in this town that was founded in the early 900s. Cluny holds many stories in its rich history, and teams will harness their creativity in groups as they prepare to launch the next great idea. You can watch the weekend unfold on their Twitter account @SWCluny. They have a rectangle sticker on white with large, blue type highlighting the event's name, with the Startup Weekend beaker in front of the spire of the local abbey. They use the complementary color of yellow to give some contrast to the blue, and it makes for a standout design.
