Radio Stations
Custom-Shaped-Stickers-for-Radio-Stations-Printed-at-StickerGiant Today's subject is a potpourri or a mish-mash or even a tiny smorgasbord of radio stations. Why? 'Cause that's the way the StickerGiant wanted it. And incidentally, what is it with radio stations and Flash? I mean, I keep a lot of tabs open and stuff, and I hardly ever restart my browser, but seriously, loading these three radio station websites at once nearly choked my poor Safari. First up is 88.9 the Alternation, from northeast Ohio. Its signal can be heard from Cleveland to Canton and from Youngstown to Medina. Most interesting thing about it? It's run by a high school, under the aegis of the Streetsboro City Schools Board of Education. Man, I could have done some real damage with my musical yearbook commercials if they'd gone out on real radio instead of through a Walkman and a hand-held mic on the school PA. Fun stuff. Second is 98.5 KRZ, which advertises "Today's Best Music for Northeast PA!" They're the radio station that plays all the pop hits you can't help but hum along to, even if the voices are all Auto-Tuned to hell and back. Follow 'em on Facebook. Finally we've got Radio Paradise – I know it's the first sticker in the picture but I thought it was the most interesting so I saved it for last.
RP is a blend of many styles and genres of music, carefully selected and mixed by two real human beings. You'll hear modern and classic rock, world music, electronica, even a bit of classical and jazz. What you won't hear are random computer-generated playlists or mind-numbing commercials.
Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith run this Internet radio station using pro-grade equipment. You can hear them on iTunes, Winamp or whatever you have that can handle an MP3 stream. They're also on AOL Shoutcast or you can listen from their website. The big differentiator here is that they're listener-supported, so if you like what you hear, PayPal them a little cash, OK?
