Padre Island Burger Company is the vision of chef/owner Jason Johnson. Born and raised in Corpus Christi and currently a proud Padre Island resident, Jason had long wanted to open a restaurant/bar of his own. He has his bachelor's degree from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York, where he honed not only his cooking skills, but his management skills as well.Mmmmm....Dr. Pepper hot wings, anyone? Speaking of islands, we were completely captivated and, we admit it, a little saddened by this article about abandoned islands around the world. Especially the stories about people being moved to the mainland more or less against their will. Not natural! But the one that we found most compelling was the one in the Hudson River replete with its own crumbling castle...that was built to house munitions and military surplus. Talk about delusions of grandeur!
