It's Fat Tuesday! Mardi Gras beads, masks, king cakes and even custom stickers are all on display as folks come together to celebrate this annual tradition that either goes for a day or for weeks if you are down in New Orleans.
There is another tradition held in Cajun communities in Louisiana that involves chasing chickens. It is known as Courir de Mardi Gras, which translates to Fat Tuesday Run. The celebration starts very early and includes a parade where everyone is dressed up in colorful costumes. A homeowner will then donate a chicken to be used for the community gumbo but in order to use it they have to catch it. The chase is on!
A local artist in New Orleans, Hannah Gumbo, is celebrating the festivities with her own Courir de Mardi Gras design that she has turned into a pin and a custom Die Cut Sticker. This custom sticker design features none other than a chicken with a festive hat with multiple colors stating "Courir de Mardi Gras." It's custom shaped and laser die cut to make a great sticker souvenir for a fun tradition.
Happy Mardi Gras, everyone!
