We're sponsoring three different race events this weekend, with two taking place here in Colorado and one in Canada. All of these events focus on fitness, families and community, and we're proud to say our stickers are going to a good cause. The weather looks great everywhere, so it's going to be a great weekend for these races.
Frank Shorter RACE4Kids
In Broomfield, Colorado, Centura Health and Healthy Learning Paths is holding the 8th Annual Frank Shorter RACE4Kids' Health 5K & Expo. Proceeds benefit Healthy Learning Paths, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded with the mission of spreading the power of health for children while leading the way to health conscious communities. The whole day will be a family friendly running expo, with a few different events that cater to all ages. Their
custom shaped sticker features all of the health sponsors and the event branding in green and blue text. There's plenty to consume on this sticker with people running and a meaningful message about healthcare for kids.
The 5K portion is a BoulderBolder qualifying event, which is a big deal in these parts, and then there's Mazzola's Miracle Fun Run, which is just under a mile. The 3-5 year old kids will really enjoy the Applebee's Buzz and at the Diaper Dash the 2 and younger set will have a chance to get active. The first five thousand kids 10 and under have a change to receive cool capes, and if you come dressed in your favorite costume you have a chance to win a prize. Bonus: The venue host 1STBANK Center will have staff collecting small recyclable electronics for free at this event.
The event's namesake is Olympic Gold Medalist Frank Shorter, who wants to promote health for children. The folks in involved include: Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, and St. Anthony North Health Campus.
3rd Annual Longmont CollaBEERation
Shoes and Brews here in our home town of Longmont is hosting the 3rd Annual Longmont CollaBEERation 5k & BrewFest with Left Hand Brewing, and joining them this year is Under Armour. A portion of the race proceeds will go to The Left Hand Foundation, which goes back to the community for good. They have a sweet custom shaped
die cut sticker of a bird in flight and the event name and date. This design is a sure to standout no matter where it's stuck.
About the course: it's a fast, mostly flat 5k along the St. Vrain Greenway, which has been restored since the 2013 floods that swamped our fair city. It's starts at Left Hand Brewery and heads west before turning back to finish at Shoes & Brews.
First place female and male runners will walk away with a keg of their choice, meaning they have the chance to win their weight in free beer. There is also the Best Dressed category, where winners receive the Left Hand Brewing Beer 4 a Year Certificate--an awesome without a doubt. There will also be a raffle for shoes, watches, apparel, nutrition, race entries, beer and more.
Markham Mayor's Youth Council Amazing Race
The city of Markham, in the Canadian province of Ontario, will be hosting their own version of the Amazing Race a full-day event that will bring together hundreds of local youths. High school students race across a set route and complete a series of challenges at various prepared stations. All participants are given lunch, snacks, an event kit (t-shirt, bag, flashlight, etc), and sponsor gear to aid them throughout the day. Their
custom circle sticker has a the event name and logo underneath a city skyline in white, with a black background that features line art as a grounding element.
There is a charitable cause for this event as well, as The Kids at Camp Program is run by the City of Markham to allow youth with special needs to attend summer camp programs at an affordable cost. After completing an application process, certain families will be eligible to send their child to camp for one week. As this cause relies solely on donations, MMYC’s contribution is imperative. The money MMYC raises will be added into an overall Kids at Camp fund that will assist youth all over Markham.
We hope everyone enjoys their race days, and we'll be following along online.
