Open Book Management is a unique business strategy that was born out of simple frustration in 1983 as the CEO of SRC Holdings - an engine factory in Springfield, Missouri - was trying to find a way to save 119 jobs from getting cut and revive a failing division of International Harvester (which is now known as Navistar International Corporation). As a last resort, he opened up the finance books and shared the figures with his employees, showing them how they could affect the numbers by teaching them the rules of business. It was a completely new strategy and it worked, allowing the company to turn around and start being profitable once more.
That simple idea of managing a company like an open book took off and spread like wildfire, and Jack Stack's approach was eventually called The Great Game of Business, a way to minimize the gap between managers and employees in any business. Impact Hub Boulder provides the workspace, programming and networking involved to host events for a number of industries, and StickerGiant is proud to teach a three-part course on Open Book Management, something we practice each and every day.
The goal of this workshop is to "guide you through the creation of your own easy-to-understand business management and KPI (key performance indicator) tracking structure." Our CEO and other staff members will be on-hand to present these three great sessions:
- 10/7 - Never Lose Sleep Over Your Finances
- 10/14 - Key Performance Indicators
- 10/21 - Weekly Reporting and More
