If you follow the news, you know that these are trying times for newsrooms all across the country. In the wake of personnel changes and office moves for the Denver Post, a new brand has entered the media landscape here in the Rocky Mountain Empire: The Colorado Sun, a crowd-funded journalism startup launched by former Post staffers. To get their message out into the world, they have included a powerful slogan with their promotional logo sticker: I Follow the Sun, with a subtitle of "Take Back Your News."
We are glad they looked us up for their sticker needs as part of the Kickstarter campaign that helped them get off the ground. We loved this line from their update about swag:
"...we knew they'd do a rad job. The stickers are extra durable for the state's weather conditions. So stick 'em on your vehicles and remember that we here at The Sun appreciate all of you for helping us get started and following us along in our journey."They have subscriptions, which start at $5 a month help them in their goal to find a sustainable business model that doesn't rely on annoying ads, auto-play videos and other things that readers don't like about the current model for the news business. Their mission is to serve readers and remind them that every dollar goes to fund local journalism and that current funding is going to pay their team of freelance writers, artists and photographers throughout Colorado.
