We all know families where a serious illness has taken over. Hospitals, tests, surgeries, recovery, waiting, worrying....It's a horrible thing for any family to go through. The worst part, no matter who's the patient, is what happens to the kids involved. Suddenly, everything is scary and serious. It's like their childhood has been cut short. Uh-oh, this feels like a bummer of a post already. Flight1 to the rescue!
Through interactions with pilots, aircraft, and aviation programs, Flight1 brings joy and confidence to children whose families are affected by serious illnesses. Courageous Fliers is the primary program of Flight1. The Courageous Fliers program strives to introduce 100 children, annually, to the world of aviation. More than just a plane ride, the program introduces children to different aircraft, the skills to be a pilot and the joy of flight. The program is a year round engagement within the aviation community that may include tours, air show, and much more.Well, we feel better already. The amazing part? Aside from, you know, FLYING through the air like a bird when you're so clearly not a bird? Flight1 happens thanks to good Hoosiers giving their time to others. Kids get the experience of a lifetime, volunteers get the satisfaction that comes from making a difference. Everybody wins!
