This week StickerGiant features a noteworthy non-profit organization making waves to improve the global water filtration deficit. Waves for Water works with world leaders to provide clean water to communities around the world who frequently lack the resources needed to maintain clean water sources.
Waves for Water was started by pro surfer John Rose following an unexpected run-in with an earthquake off the coast of Bali during surf trip. Rose happened to be en route delivering 10 water filters to Bali, and after finding himself in the midst of a dyer water crisis, he ultimately began distributing the equipment to rescue workers and communities in his immediate area.
John’s interest in philanthropic pursuits were influenced much earlier. His father Jack Rose, who started non-profit “Rain Catcher” has dedicated himself to teaching villages in Africa how to filter rainwater for drinking. So when John spotted the need for more global water resources, it's no surprise that he turned to his father for collaboration.
Probably the most interesting tidbit we learned from the interview was that Waves for Water uses stickers in 21 countries to label 5 gallon buckets to provide water treatment solutions. The stickers create consistent brand awareness for

What do people really dig about your product/services?: Waves For Water was developed with one mission in mind: Get clean water to every single person who needs it. We provide clean water solutions worldwide through ongoing PROJECTS and our volunteer program, CLEAN WATER COURIERS. Who are the awesome people behind the curtain at your company/project and what do they do?: Jon Rose, Founder Jack Rose Christian Troy Why/How do you use stickers as a marketing or outreach tactic?: We provide filters that are used in combination with 5 gallon buckets to create a clean water drinking system that can support hundreds of people. We use our stickers on the buckets and these buckets are throughout 21 countries now.
What advice would you give to a company thinking about using stickers as a marketing tactic to wow their fans. What has worked for you, what hasn’t, etc?:
The stickers we use help us establish our brand and are now recognizable to many.
List some ways that fans can support your brand to encourage growth apart from buying your product or service?:
Sharing the word, visiting our website (wavesforwater.org), understanding that 1 in 6 people in this world still don't have access to clean drinking water, or becoming a Clean Water Courier when you travel.
