For the team at the Computing, Communications, and Information Technologies (CCIT) at the Colorado School of Mines, humor goes a long way. They've been printing whimsical promotional stickers with us for some time, with a classic oval 'GEEK' sticker as their first design on a glossy sticker and then a similar version on a clear oval sticker.
Now, we get this four sticker set of similarly tongue-in-cheek phrases on branded clear stickers. These stickers are a popular promotional tool for the department, and the students, faculty and staff that interact with this group get a fun souvenir. Since it's on our clear material, wherever this sticker goes, you'll see beneath it, whether it's a laptop, a dorm window, or an office door.
The design is a take on the periodic table design, and they have a few different phrases: dweeb, nerd and dork. While these terms might have had a negative connotation in the past, the Mines IT department is owning their inner nerd/dweeb/dork and sharing that story with their campus community. Truly a way to differentiate themselves on campus and stand out all over the region with their website as part of the design element, creating the call to action for people who notice this sticker out in the real word.
