"Everyone is given a candle that burns just for them. When your flame flickers and you fear it will go out, know not even the strongest wind lasts forever; and there are other lights to guide you even in the Darkness...And when your candle burns bright, you can ignite the hearts of others and hope will spread like wildfire...Always Keep Fighting, and you'll never fight alone."
These words were on a note handed out in the crowd at San Diego Comic Con last week during a panel for the hit show, Supernatural. With the note was a candle that had a sticker on it that said, "Always Keep Fighting, SPNFamily: 10 Years Strong & Counting. Share Why You Fight: #AKFHallH."
This gesture was an appreciation for the actor, Jared Padalecki, who has had a public battle with depression. Jared use to tell himself "always keep fighting" and made this his slogan while going through these struggles. Jared also sells shirts with this saying on it to raise support for mental health awareness.
There were thousands of fans holding the tea light candles that were distributed at the Comic Con, part of which were funded through Random Acts as an Act of Kindness. It was a very touching tribute to someone who has fought in the public spotlight a disease that affects millions of people around the world.
We are very proud to hear a story about a small sticker being used in such a big way.
